He blew the front gear, pulled it and ran in 2wd then blew the rear pinion & ring gear. The last 100 miles of movement we saw in the desert was being pulled by one of his chase trucks

I think in one of the Baja interviews before the race he said they only had 70 something miles on the rebuilt EVO1, so maybe the overlooked braking in the gear sets?
