Oh mud is the worst to clean..

It wasn’t fun. Interestingly, there was only 1 mud hole, in which we needed to cross to make it back to the main parking lot. And what was really disconcerting was that it caused my Jeep to die. I think either my alternator or battery terminal got wet. After tinkering with it for 5-10 min it fired back up.

Two weeks ago my wife and I finally took a nice trip out of town, just so happened that it was to join along on the Texas Exodus 2018 Trip. We planned on joining in Ouray to run Black Bear Pass and Imogene Pass at the beginning and follow along for the 1st day in Moab to run Fins and Things. Along the way we broke of to do some sight seeing and hiking in a few National Parks.

On our way to Ouray, we were able to check in on Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, probably one of the most under rated NPs. Image1535322119.950659.jpg Image1535322130.992583.jpg Image1535322149.825542.jpg Image1535322172.488340.jpg Image1535322189.943736.jpg

Then we finally got to hit the Ouray trails. Image1535322242.418509.jpg Image1535322251.384579.jpg Image1535322277.968229.jpg Image1535322289.607747.jpg Image1535322300.437310.jpg
Image1535322335.981024.jpg Image1535322344.315834.jpg Image1535322364.236239.jpg

The views were amazing, but you really have to pay attention to the task at hand!

The next day was spent just checking out Ouray and doing some hiking apart from the group.

Then we jammed out early to see Arches NP near Moab. Totally different than any other places I’ve ever visited. Image1535322517.069333.jpg Image1535322527.745374.jpg Image1535322541.302013.jpg Image1535322549.190527.jpg

Then Fins N Things. My Jeep did great, my wife started to understand why I’m into this thing! Image1535322647.741452.jpg Image1535322661.217905.jpg Image1535322668.318212.jpg

A few more from Moab. Image1535322727.249795.jpg Image1535322735.087067.jpg

After our run in Moab, our personal itinerary sent us to Rocky Mountain National Park! Super scenic, we love to hike so this was another bucket list item.

We hiked from Bear Lake to Emerald Lake the 1st day and the next day we hiked up to Sky Pond. All in all, 3 National Parks, 3 Jeep Badge of Honor Trails, and 2800 Jeep miles; I can’t complain. And a week away with my wife.

Awesome pictures. Looks like it was an amazing trip! Hopefully someday I can make it up there and hit some of these trails.

Thanks! We were able to tick off a lot of Bucket List items. Hopefully you can make it out there. You can also rent modified Jeeps out there too, so don’t let the logistics of getting your jeep there deter you.

Yep, saw those but we don’t collect them. Instead, we do Christmas tree ornaments and also collect the Great Depression era postcards. We also do the NP passport stamps, but that doesn’t get me too excited. I like the postcard thing the best.

LOL! We would do Christmas tree ornaments too. However, we have not had a tree in years...cats!

Epic Dirk! Makes ya want to move here....nudge, nudge.

Really don’t need much prodding! The Mountains have called!

Funny how that happens, When we went to Moab I spend most of the trip through Co on I-70 in the rumble strips because every turn reveals another breathtaking view. I was all over the damn road. Halfway through I told the wife I'm ready to call home and tell them to sell every thing that I own - I'm stayin.

For sure! I’ve been out there several times but never in the summer. Once I get a few more mil in the bank I’m outta here, haha.
