extra space was always available when as a child, you were allowed to bounce around the back of a vehicle smashing your face against the rear window entertaining the cars behind you or negotiating the comfort of the floor hump as a pillow to get a better seating arrangement.
This company claims their car seats fit 3 across. We looked into them when we had our first. Never found one to look at in person so we didn't end up going that route.

Nice! I’m guessing you have been happy with them then. I’ve hated the Graco seats that we’ve had and can’t wait to get rid of them.
Yea I’ve liked em, easy to take in and out, kids seem to be happy in them too

Yea I would be trying to find a babymax 3.0 rather than the 6.2 at this point. I don’t know what GM bean counters did to the latest 6.2 but they fucked up a great engine.
