If it is a factory shaft, there is nothing to put into phase. Phase only has to do with universal joints on both ends of the drive shaft being in phase.

Feck.......that blows that theory out of the water .

aww hell, sorry about that - I'm going to inspect mine further, I though th0se were index marks because when we took it off and put it back on we used it to make sure all went back in no issues.

Yes, it is good practice to put things back exactly the way they were and the factory does put paint marks on the flanges but that is not because of phasing.
