I've been running my front DS like this for over a year now on several long trips and wheeling it, the larger boot recently tore and after Moab EJS I've noticed the CV boot has more signs of definite wear so I'm now replacing it.
It will fail but even the vendor I bought my lift from advised that I didn't need to rush to replace the DS for my driving habits, just keep an eye on it and check it after each wheeling trip.
