Not that there would be any question here but, it looks like the Grand Cherokee just won yet another award...

Grand Cherokee Wins SUV Challenge

The Grand Cherokee has added another award to its collection by winning the 2013 Cars.com/USA Today Midsize SUV Challenge.

The Grand Cherokee was pitted against the Toyota Venza, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Edge, Kia Sportage and Nissan Murano. Journalists from Cars.com, USA Today and PBS’ “Motorweek” were joined by the Brown family of Chicago in testing each vehicle for fuel efficiency, practicality, driving ability, comfort and features. The challenge included 200 miles of driving on varying roads to test each SUV for real-world fuel economy; one day of round-robin driving where each journalist evaluated each SUV on the same route back-to-back to gather impressions; and a day where the Browns, Brian, Melissa, and their two children, evaluated each of the six SUVs for comfort, family-friendly features, styling and ride quality.

The Browns were selected as a typical consumer family. They own a 2000 Acura and a 2005 Jeep Liberty.

“After extensive testing, the Jeep Grand Cherokee took the top spot in the Cars.com/USA Today Midsize SUV Challenge, thanks to its luxurious interior, impressive multimedia system and overall driving capability,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com’s Editor-in-Chief. “Jeep Grand Cherokee has long been considered a true, off-roading SUV, and thanks to some serious refinement, today’s incarnation of the Grand Cherokee edges out the other, very worthy, midsize SUV options available to shoppers.”

“Winning this award is especially gratifying since the judges included a typical family of four, in addition to experts from three prestigious media outlets,” said Mike Manley, Jeep Brand CEO. “We are delighted that the judges recognized the improvements we’ve made to the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the most awarded SUV ever – that make it even better. No other SUV offers Grand Cherokee’s combination of legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, fuel economy, advanced user-friendly technology, world-class craftsmanship and on-road refinement.”

Journalists’ evaluations made up 75% of the final score; the Brown’s input accounted for 15%; and fuel economy made up the final 10%.

I have to say that I really do like the new Grand Cherokees and if I needed to get a new SUV, it would be what I'd want.
