Hello all!
I’m Charles and I’m in love with my Jeep.
As my handle suggests I’m fairly new to the whole Jeep thing. I currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area but I originally hail from Long Island, New York.
I remember the exact moment when I wanted a Wrangler. I was in my late teens or early twenties going to community college in the dead of winter. There was a particularly heavy snowfall the night before and the parking lots had barely been plowed. Those that were ‘cleared’ had all their snow piled up in massive mounds in some of the closest spots to the buildings.
It was still overcast, blustery, and bitterly cold. I had to end up parking on the far side of the lot and trudging through the slush. On my way I stopped to take notice of something odd: a vehicle that seemed to stand far above all the others in the lot.
It was a Wrangler. And the Wrangler wasn’t taller than the other vehicles in the lot, it had parked on the slope of one of the large snow piles. I remember thinking how remarkably natural it looked for that Jeep to be there. Now I had seen plenty of Wranglers before. But not like that. It’s like seeing pictures online and on TV of some famous painting all your life, but then seeing it in person at the museum for the very first time.
Cut forward almost a decade and I was driving home in my brand new 2011 JK Unlimited Sport. Though my first stop before heading home was to pick up a Torx head set.
I picked the Sport due to financial reasons and being advised it would be better for me to start building from a Sport rather than a Rubicon. Though in hindsight, if finances were a concern I shouldn’t have gotten a Jeep in the first place. But I’ve had it now for 3 years and have never stopped loving it! The time has come to start making upgrades, which is the real reason I’m here. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m heading over to the JK section for some desperately needed advice.
