If you're going into a metal fab business I'd buy the cabinet mounted portaband Highwaytrout posted. Throw in the extra your parents wont pay for & you have a great start.

Definatley portaband. You can mount the in a table vise to control your metal instead of the saw or a pipe vise to make it a portable work stand. I use them everyday and they are tough as nails. We mainly use the Milwaukee brand but we do get a dewalt here and there and they are pretty solid as well
