Mojave Trail 2nd part

Here are more pics of the lave tubes, there had been rain so there was about 2 inches of water about 100' inside so we only went that far but on previous trips we went in around 250'

Next stop is one of interesting spots on the trail it is called the "Mojave Desert Mailbox" defiantly different.
it is a place to sign in and say "I Was Here" but it has interesting collections of stuff found around put there by passers by.

Start your own sometime :brows:

oh and listen when you walk by the frogs... they ribbet at you

This is the intersection of the Mojave Trail and Kelso Cima Road, this was one of our escape routes if we needed it... guess we should have thought twice :badday"

i think we sat there for about 10 minutes looking at the satellite weather and decide to press on

Next stop is the Mojave Desert Outpost and the main dirt roal crossing of Lanfair Road, this was another of our escape routes that goes 11 miles to pavement and you get to Goffs in 17 miles total
if you want to stay here there is a campground about 1/4 mile down the road

some pics

A few miles further a little south of Fort Paiute we were on a shelf road about 20' wide with about a 500' to 800' drop off and we came across about a 15' to 20' section of the road that had fallen away about 10' down, there was about a 4' wide part of the road left.
i got out to investigate and heard a gigantic thunderclap and turned around and it was instantly pouring and i started running back to the rig and said to my wife we need to leave RIGHT NOW.

got turned around and there was another 5 rigs coming up on us within 100' and i told them we need to get out of here asap and we did.
the problem we faced is the 5 to 6 small streams 1 to 2 inches deep and 12 inches wide we passed a mile or two back would be rivers very quickly... and when we got there they were 18' to 2' and 5' to 10' wide and rushing muddy water but we all got accross safely and made it back to Lanfair Road and then on to Goffs

we didn't make it all the way but it was a hell of an adventure... and yes we are going to the end of the trail and do that last 10 miles in a couple weeks.

this is the part of the road that washed out
