Pairing rancho rs5000 shocks with Evo leveling kit..

My fault, I misread your post. I had the 5000s on 09 with Rancho's 2" level kit and I enjoyed the ride, so much so that I'm considering their 3" w/ 5000s, but again its 100% subjective. The 9000s have an adjuster on them, 10 different dampening settings. The 5000s are just a monotube shock, that's the biggest difference.
they are not monotube they are twin tube.

I already have the Evo leveling kit. So I'm just looking for a good set of shocks to run with them.. And can be purchased under 250

actually the 5000X's is closer to the 9000 than the 7000 is to the 9000. I have run all 3 and the 5000 by feel and by Rancho's rep is =to the 9000 on setting 6. the 7000 ride is pretty close to a bilstein 5100 ie a higher pressure monotube vs the 5000 low pressure twin tube design.
You can get 7000's for 0-2" lift part number RS7326 and RS7328

I thought 7000s were softer than 5000s and generally better?

Yeah I'm on the Evo leveling kit and stock shocks with Jks quick disconnect sway bar links I'd suggest getting some new links and I'm positive you can run your stock shocks I have been with no problems and I purchased spidertrax 1.5 wheel spacers to stop my wheel rub

I run the EVO leveling kit, 1.5" spydertrax spacers and stock shocks. Had the on for about 11,000 miles and I find them great as long as you don't overtax the shocks with washboard type bumps. I think the geometry of throwing the wheel tire weight further out surpasses the optimal shock absorbing ability of the stock shock. I also have the added weight of a Protek Skid system

And a ZEON 10s up front. Sorry I have no experience with these shocks but I hear they are all great and if you have the money go with the adjustability especially if you plan to change tire sizes in the future.

I have as well. call Rancho or email Rancho and they will confirm that the 5000X(not to be confused with the old 5000) performs like the 9000 only without adjustment features. The 5000X has only been out a year and is different than the 5000. The 7000 is a monotube the 5000X twintube same as the 9000.

Caught the Bug
Hey I would use the same P/N"s we use in our 2" SPORT kit
Front is
RS55326 (If you want you can use RS55329 but you will want to check bumpstops!!!)
Rear is
RS55330

A couple of things to consider.

If you aren't happy with them you have 90 days to return them for a refund. This goes for the RS7000MT or the RS9000XL too.

Here is a good video on this shock, what really helps with the ride is the is the shim stack works in the valving.



The RS7000MT is a monotube style shock, is a high gas charged shock, a firmer ride. Some like this while other do not.
The RS9000XL is just an all around awesome shocks, because of the adjustability.

I have run them all in the last year or so.
I ran the 9000XL for years (on a soft setting 3), then switched to the RS7000MT, I ran that until last spring when I switched back to the 9000XL.
When I made the switch back I found I no longer prefered the softer setting and then ran them at a 6 front and rear.
Now that I have the 5000X it is around, to me, a solid 5-6.

If you are looking for a budget shock that rides a lot better the 5000X should be a great fit.

The 7000MT is a monotube design shock so on the firmer side.
A Bilstein shock is also a monotube design. Where we will differ is on gas charge and valving (and other "small" differences)

The "better" part is the subjective part. A monotube "shines" on performance and if you are really getting into it on a fire road or the like.
A twin tube "shines" for everyday driving.

The RS9000XL is just an all around awesome shocks, because of the adjustability.

My thoughts exactly. Only had them for a short time, but for someone who doesn't mind crawling under there to change the settings, they are hands down the best shocks I've had.
