I've been dealing with charging issues with my alternator not always charging. A new pcm is around 700 installed and flashed. A local auto electric shop figured out a way to make my alternator charge at 14 volts with the pcm unhooked. This isn't the fix for everyone as it does throw your battery light on (there a part you can wire in that may shut it off) but for me with 93,000 miles and plan on a v8 swap at some point I found it pointless to purchase a new pcm.
