CLEGHORN
Here's a few pics from a semi-snow run that we did up Cleghorn Trail or what some people these days call, 'cleghammer', as a way of making it sound more badass. Anyway, I'm pretty sure these were taken way back in January of 2001.

Meeting up with friends of ours at the gas station right off the 138. Funny how some things still look exactly the same today.

The higher up we went, the more muddy it got thanks to the melting snow.

And of course, we eventually got into the snow as well.

Our friend Vince getting a bit hung up in the slippery stuff.

But, before we needed to break out the strap, a few of us were able to push him through.

Pete giving it his all but still slipping and sliding in the ruts.
20240201164717-8e11540f.jpg

But again, not bad enough that a bit of a push couldn't help out.

On the back side of the snow and heading back down.

Working the big ruts.

And unfortunately, that's all I could find. If I could guess, I simply ran out of floppy discs! 🤪

Hope you enjoyed these pics from the past and you can be sure more are coming soon :)

Looks like a fun day! Seems Bronco Bob isn’t the only one to break up your full-Jeep runs; I used to love those xterras. lol

to be young and able to push ... these days it's "grab a strap or pull the winch line!" but also, they weigh a lot more... or do they? lol

LOL - it's funny how back in the day, there were a lot more 4WD SUV's that were made to do some light wheeling and fairly well. Of course, back before the 4-door JK, it was more practical for guys to buy them, especially if they had a family. Needless to say, that's what a lot of the people we wheeled with back then had.

I'm actually a big fan of that era of vehicles (90s/2000s) for that exact reason - the fact that there were so many higher clearance SUVs with 4 doors, while still being "smaller" by today's standards, such as the 4Runner, XTerra, Rodeo, Cherokee etc. Really miss the 1999 or 2000 4Runner my mom used to have alongside my dad's TJ when I was kid.

Do you still talk with these people and do they still have jeeps? Seems they are reoccurring in all these photos. Just curious.
I haven't spoken to any of them in quite some time. For most people, Jeeps and or off roading as a whole or any hobby for that matter, it's just a fad and after a while, it passes and they move on. For the other few, they moved away or in our case, we moved away and drifted apart.

Yup, it was a good time for 4WD SUV's back then and I miss it.
