Picked up Ram in March first 08 JK I previously owned a TJ ..Ram had very low mileage 50k 3.73 gears was owned by a college student no offroading was done with him..absolutely zero rust ..unbelievable here in Pa.
I quickly started doing alot of research on lifts and parts and basically designing a painting on this blank canvas ..decided on teraflex 3" coil lift decided to piece the lift together and stick with teraflex on most of the suspension to keep everything working together. .I know there's alot of reputable companies out there..
Bottom line is I want this to be absolutely pieced correctly and done right..I don't do much crawling here in E.Pa Mostly because Rams not ready for it..especially with pizza cutters..lol
The Teraflex lift kit did come with there shocks but I ended up with bilstein 5160s.....That has since changed and I've decided on fox because of there tunning with teraflex lifts..will see I just ordered the fox's
After taking some time away to decide on the rest I took the jerp over to the shop and had the undercarriage cleaned up of any minor rust and shot it with Eastwood inside the frame and shot a zinc automotive primer underneath the whole carriage every square inch and then shot it with black epoxy to avoid any rust inside or out..here's a few pics of the front
Getting back to the whole rust thing Originally being from Georgia there's no worries of salt in the winter so after coming back from Afghanistan and being stationed up here it was going to be a major problem so tackling that was probably the first order of the project
As for armor I've decided on poison spyder there aluminum knockers are soild and after seeing them in person I'm sold..I might add as for the armor just the usual coverage that normally gets dinged. .which is the whole thing consider it being a frag 5 kit for you vets out there..haha:thumbup:
I got a steal on them! The lift is pretty much ready to be put on just waiting for the JKS ACOS to get here hopefully by friday..decided on them if there is any future sag it'll be easy to correct it without guessing spacer size and taking everything off...minor mod
