The problem is not how to build a plant. The problem is how to satisfy all of the thousands of regulations, and safeguards/checks, and the paranoid lunatics, which have built up since the "The China Syndrome" movie was released. And also, how to safely get rid of spent waste. With nuclear waste it seems that safe for 10,000 years is not enough. Inventing a way to minimize or eliminate nuclear waste would be a huge step forward.

Yes we’ve had nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers for years and those are obviously small scale reactors but dealing with Gladys Cravits types who hear about a nuclear power plant coming to their town and herself having the meltdown is the issue. Dealing with the waste is easy just stick it on Epsteins island no one will ever see it again.
