Holy Shit.. a pinned ball and not using a Solid Bar hitch.. That poor family.

I honestly didn’t know there was such a thing as a tube hitch. I can’t imagine ever, for any reason, not having a solid bar hitch.

Pretty common on a 2" hitch... and they have their place.... Light loads. But that was a lot of horizontal force on that tube with that 8" drop. F'n Tragedy.

Too bad…while it should be known that you never attach a strap to the ball hitch, something as simple as a floor mat or jacket laid on the strap may have prevented this tragedy…

Horseshit. I don't believe he backed up only a few feet. That was a good run. Just cannot do that with a pull strap. You must use a kinetic strap or this is the result.

Sadly saw something similar years ago. No fatality but scary nonetheless.
Anytime I see someone backing up to get a run like that I'm diving for cover.

To me, the worst part is his wife and kids were in the vehicle when dad lost his head. It's going to be a long time before they ever get over that.
