Are you removing wood to lighten the weight of the body, or achieve a particular tone?...and what about sustain?

Yeah I did that for both more sustain and to make it lighter. It's considered a chambered body.

I've had a bunch come and go over the years. This is a few pics I dug up from when I had my home rehearsal studio. I've since tore down the room to make my garage more suitable for working on the jeeps and the occasional wood working project. After my daughter moved out I turned her room into my music space. Haven't used it too much lately. Jeep has been taking up a lot of spare time.

took it to the band saw to get the majority of the wood
then to the router table to clean it up

Also without water
with water to enhance the grain. Gives a good picture of what it will look like the water really makes the grain pop.
what it will look like when I'm done. I'm thinking of going no pick guard to show more of the wood grain. What do you guys think?

I'm thinking a no pickguard tele would really stand out...or possibly make one out clear acrylic...

Looks awesome. In think it would look great both with or without a guard. If you use a standard tele guard it will only cover the upper section. You'd still see the majority of the grain on the top. Can't wait to see the end result! You're very talented my friend.

That looks awesome. I really need to get back into playing. Its been nearly 20 years since I played. Also don't you have a tire carrier to finish? Don't be like me and have too many irons in the fire..haha.
