Vengeance, part III

Stopped by some friends last night, and everyone wanted a ride in Vengeance.

On the fourth ride, after dragging a bit on a ledge climbing my local test hill, I heard a horrible metallic racket coming from underneath.

It turns out the gas tank skid plate was missing an upper front bolt. That, coupled with some prior damage and rust, let the skid shift over and the yoke was banging in it.

Fortunately, since I was close to home, I was able to work on it in the garage. It took some doing, but with three jacks, a piece of Oak, and a chain and binder I was able to line up the hole.

I borrowed a bolt from a less important place to fix it, and will replace that bolt later.

I'm thankful for a quick "easy" fix.

Ran some trails at Moab this week Jerry. Was was reflecting on these as we ran some together two years ago. Maybe next time with Vengeance, huh.
 
Great pics Jerry! Bummed I couldn’t make it... So how do you like the low stance compared to your 4 Door? Does it feel more stable? Clearance issues on the Rocks?
 
Way stable. With the balance, stretch, low cog, it is very comfortable at angles you wouldn't believe.

The downsides are break over angle, so climbing something that's too sharp on top, and the rear control arm shovel, I mean bracket. That bound me up several times today.
I may look into whether there is clearance to build a high clearance bracket for the existing arms

There should be for the rear it would just be custom. Pretty sure it’s just a factory mount in the rear if I remember correctly.

It is the factory mount.

My thought is to copy the way the high clearance long arm bracket mount, but it would have to be custom to fig the control arm length.

When I get time, I will mick up something, then cycle everything to make sure it will clear in all positions, and then road test it as well before I would cut the original off.
