Ways to mount a 35" Spare

I have Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 315x70x17 mounted on stock wheel mounted to the tire carrier using a 1.25" wheel spacer and Daystar bumpstop extensions.. The tire just fits into the cutout in the stock bumper and sets under the stock 3rd brake light. If you us the offset spacer shown above you will need to modify the 3rd brake light because it will raise the tire up higher. I believe it is better not to raise the tire up if it is not necessary because the tire fits tight into the bumper cutout and helps support the tire.

Does this eliminate the need for the rubber isolators since it's pushed out and up more?

Hasn't done anything that I've noticed.

I don't let it just swing open on its own and I don't slam it closed.

Did you have to bolt it on very tight to make it flush?

no, just normal - snugged it up.

I also extend the bump stops using large rubber stoppers I got from ACE hardware
