Yeah- for 3/16 you're going to want somewhere in the neighborhood of 135-140amps depending on what machine you have. I would personally go a little hotter than that because the c's are so thick they will take a lot of the heat. Does your welder have a chart in the inside? It should have something like this
This is the inside of my Lincoln pro-mig 175. Unfortunately it wouldn't tell me the amps, just the setting to use for this machine.
Also- remember to control the heat, especially if you're not planning on replacing your ball joints. I'm sure you've read about that on other threads.
