Think my end goal would be just to sleeve and gusset the dana 30, put in a rear locker, regear, put some 35s on, get a winch, tire carrier, and rear bumper.

I wheel it in moab, montezuma, grand junction, and rangely mostly, and go camping once in a while.

That sounds like an excellent plan.

save money on the sleeves - if the axle breaks it'll still break around the sleeve, the sleeve won't save it.

gusset the C's, rear locker, regear (no lower than 4.88, 5.13 R&P get too small) and the rest of what you have will get you what you need.

Save money up for the eventual D44 or Dynatrac PR44 :thumb:

Okay then, so buy some nice c gussets, 5.13 and dont worry about a truss or sleeves? The rear D44 is fine as is, ya?

That's what I would do. Try to spend as little as possible on your d30 and save it for a pro rock.

Man, 5.13 may be too low for 35s. I'd probably go with 4.88.

And just to be clear, gearing shouldn't affect which driveshaft you go with. I think tire size has the biggest effect.

I already have a 1310. Yep, tire size is correct. Maybe I'll do 4.88 then. I also want a rubicrawler so a final crawl ratio of 102 or107 isnt any different.
