Why is that? I haven't had a soda in more than 15 years but that was the case back then. Thought I was the only one.

lol, used to have a guy come in from Salt Lake doing engineering sales calls and we had to stop at specific McDonalds to get his fountain Coke fix several times a day. Made me go past certain ones because they "didn't have the right fountain machines" whatever the hell that means.
