In The Shop - Disciple Off Road

Yes OEM axle shafts, had it up on stands. Spun each tire doesn't make a sound. Then I started it and ran it a little on the stands. It makes some noise. Going to change diff fluid in the morning. I'll see what's inside. Check magnet also.
I'm starting to think the axle shaft flange. While running it up on the jack stands, I could see a little wobble in drivers' side.
I’d get chromoly shafts man… good to have and will probably fix the problem. I had slightly bent flange which created a squeak.. you could be getting brake noise or possible bearing failure. Even if it doesn’t fix it, it’s a good investment. Just my opinion though.

(y)Well, the plan has always been to hold out as long as possible on the drivetrain then jump into the Dynatrac Trail leader package. Front 44 and rear shafts w/ ARB locker. I think that would be enough for me. Don't see 40's in my future.
I'll keep an eye/ear on it until I can make this happen.
PS: Still going to get that DL checked for balance.

UPDATE:
Ball Joint Deletes

Back on September 1st we posted up an install of some AI Ball Joint Deletes on a JT. After some wheeling and daily driving for 4 months, the customer has decided to remove them and here are some reasons;

They were still unhappy with the driving characteristics we initially felt that ultimately didn’t go away. The vehicle still felt “flighty” and needed constant steering input going down the road. I do believe this is caused from them being extremely tight as I was shocked at how hard the knuckles were to turn by hand. These were torqued to their specs.

As it was already a concern of mine, the customer stated the nylon nuts at the bottom of the studs were coming loose. These coming off would allow the stud to be pushed up amd

Lastly, they became very noisy and “squeaky” when turning. I did confirm this and was also able to confirm it was in fact the ball joints with the vehicle up in the air, components removed, and just moving the knuckle. The customer did attempt to grease them.

I’m sure these work just fine for a trail rig and as you can see didn’t break or anything to that nature. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who like them and that’s great.

Simply wanted to share our experience and thoughts about them.

Thank you so much for posting up this objective update. I've been eager to hear how they actually held up after some real testing and from someone who isn't a fanboy.

The fanboy on these joints is unreal. Glad your posting up more real world experience with them and showing how bad they really are

Sorry Jeremy for posting my problems on your thread. I figured since you were talking about the same problem I'm having.
Managed to get a camera under the jeep and this what have. Sounds like DL. No Vibration as far as I can tell. Looking at the DL spin, it looks out of balance to me. So, is it the DL or the pinion because of the DL? J.E. Reel 1350.
I installed DL last year. Didn't have in/lbs torque wrench. Also don't understand rotational torque at all.
Called and sent video to Jim over at J E Reel and still haven't heard back from them.
What do you guys think?
Update: Not sure why it took me so long to think of it. But after doing the DL with or without test I looked around the and I still have the OEM drivelines. Pulled the rear J.E. Reel and bolted the rear OEM back on. Test drove and noise completely gone.
Headed out to Pomona early this morning, Jim at J E Reel asked me to bring it out after watching the video. So it turns out the DL was out of balance. They tore into it inspected everything as they went, balanced it up and it's good to go.
Big thanks to Jim and his shop for fitting me in on such short notice and taking care of me so quickly.
Thank you, Jeremy, for letting me move into your thread with my shit.
I think I'm ready for a long drive to Nevada now. (y)

Glad you got it all figured out! 👍🏼

How do these compare to the Reid knuckles?

I was eyeing these the other day & remembered I'm still mad at Currie. Nothing against their quality but they acted like douchebags when I tried to talk with them.
Well if it helps at all, RockJock and Currie are now two separate companies lol

I have to imagine they are pretty similar and both raise the steering up a tad. I don’t know where each is actually manufactured in terms of any differences in quality. The RockJocks are at least in stock lol

If it wasn't almost a 4000 mile round trip. I would bring you my Gladiator around May, to have you install the lift and do a regear.

Been a fun week and was even called a “hack” for posting up about the ball joint deletes haha (not on here)

Had fun working on this TJ installing a high steer kit eliminating the y-link and moving the stabilizer using some PSC tabs I had.

Excited to hit the road for the New Years kick off run! Got some much needed last minute maintenance done on our Jeep. New rear brake pads and passenger axle shaft. Bent the flange so no more annoying squeaks. Also put on new unit bearings, rod ends and of course fluids.
