2.5 or 3 inch teraflex lift?

I have personally installed and tested the TeraFlex 2.5" and 3" and 4" lifts. They are ALL a lot taller than what they are advertised to be. If you really want a 3" lift to clear your 35" tires, I would recommend that you get their 2.5" lift. Even at that, I would also recommend that you get a set of adjustable front lower control arms as your caster will be off enough to warrant a correction. Without it, your handling will feel flighty at highway speeds.

^^^this. It takes a little getting used to otherwise

What brand of adjustable front lower control arms would you recommend me to get because I do run a lot on the highway to and from school.
Thank you so much for all the feedback too, I needed a good reliable forum to inform me about the highs and lows of the off-road market.

Being that you won't be doing much flexing, you could just get TeraFlex arms. If you want something a bit nice, I personally would recommend something like Clayton or JKS or even Full Traction. The later will all have clevite bushings at the frame mount and much better spherical joints at the axle. The JKS actually has clevite bushings on both ends and adjusts/rotates at the arm itself.

Edit: Eddie beat me to most of what I was gonna say.

If he were to use his Jeep off road, I would agree. Being that he only has a 2WD, the clevite bushings will help provide a nicer on road ride and be maintenance free. The Clayton arms are a good compromise as they have Johnny Joints at the axle end but, the JKS or even Full-Traction arms would require no real maintenance.

Agreed! I edited what I said being that you covered the brands I was gonna mention and then the fact that he isn't gonna go offroad. :yup:

CHOICES CHOICES! lol http://m.quadratec.com/products/product.php?pid=16156+0480
So your thinking those would be my best option, those are a bit pricey lol. But If that's what I have to do to keep my car from wobbling at highway speeds than that's very important and necessary.

Actually, these are a bit different than what I had in the past. Looks like they've been updated and now that I see as much, I might still recommend a set of Clayton or FT's as they should be a bit more affordable. And again, being that you're just going to be using your Jeep on pavement, the TeraFlex arms would get the job done too.

The biggest tire I'm aiming for is 35s, I'm not trying to go sky high, I just want to sit nicely off the ground but the reason I feel like I need to go with a lift bigger than 2.5 because most of the pictures I see of jeeps with that lift don't seem that tall. I might just need to see some better before and after pictures.

here is my jeep with the 2.5" teraflex kit and flat fenders. the flat factory fenders make it look like its sitting higher then it really is. in the ast pic you can see my 2.5" with 35's sits at almost the same height as hinrich's white jeep with 3" plush rides and 37's mainly because the coils are so stiff it makes the jeep sit higher. the blue jeep is jiggawhatpolo with a 3" zone lift and 35's

The 2.5" on rubi tires with the spidertrax you will need to get if you retain stock wheels

Thanks for all the feedback, in going to get the teraflex 2.5 coil lift in the next month, are the shocks that come with it okay? Or not good at all. I will also invest in the front adjustable control arms and hopefully it all comes together nicely and hopefully I can bear that stiffer ride.

their shocks are crap. if your sold on it then get the kit without shocks and invest in a good set of ranchos RS7000 or RS9000 or even a set of bilstein 5100's

Teraflex coils are VERY stiff. I did not like them at all driving on washboard roads was not fun. I had the 2.5 coil lift and absolutely hated it. Removed it after about 2 weeks.

I think I'm just getting old but, I'm always surprised that there are actually people out there who prefer it that way.

The rear end was so stiff it washed out on you going around turns with washboard. It was horrible. It was when the jeep was brand new. Only had 75 miles when I installed lift. I thought I ruined my jeep lol.

While im not a TF fan boy, I do like the ride. In my opinion, the ride is better than stock - but I had a Sport and I now run bilsteins. Those monotube shocks arent standard on the kit and they feel like clouds compared to the sport shocks.

I think the 4 door has a lot to do with it too. I cant imagine a 2 door. Maybe I lucked out? We had it on a dirt fire road at 45mph and it was a great, smooth family outing. FWIW this is my 1st lifted Jeep, 2nd lifted truck and after riding in an MRAP for months on end.... anything Is a cadillac by comparison

The upgraded shocks will make a difference but once again, ride quality is 100% subjective. If you like what you have, you don't need to make any apologies for it. :yup:

Too true. I just find it fascinating HOW subjective when 2 jeepers can have such dramatically different experiences with the same product. :yup:

I have had 3 different suspensions on my jk in the last year and the teraflex lift was by far the worst riding one I had.
