Cut Fender Thread

I have been wanting to chop my fenders for a while now. I just couldn't bring myself to start cutting away at my fenders....until this weekend. Left them on the jeep while I chopped em. I am very happy with the outcome gives my jeep a much better look! ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1407163769.106748.jpg ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1407163784.334033.jpg

I am still on the fence about chopping my stock fenders. My only worry is that they just get to floppy in the wind. Any thought?

I left some curve to the front that helps to push them down at highway speed but also used some 25 pound 3M double sides tape to stick them to the subframe at a couple of spots and no flapping at all. Figure this way they'll still give when I hit the inevitable rock.

Finally cut my fenders today after debating for almost 2 years. Never was sure about cutting my painted fenders but after looking through this post and comparing the cost plus the chance of ripping one off. I bit the bullet and done it. I just wish I wouldn't have waited so long. I love the look!!! Im wondering if anyone has chopped their fenders like this? And if so have you noticed any problems with it. I like having the marker and it seems like a decent way to keep it if theres no problems.
And id definitely cut the rears like wayalife cuz they look good! And you'd think chrysler would just make em like this by now! :p

Just a note I did find this pic on google

I've done mine similar to this as I have a full width bumper up front. Took out the chunky side marker and ran a smaller LED one instead though.

I'll join! Mine have been cut since last year when I got the 37's. Cut on the jeep and used the door edge trim. Someone couldn't believe they were just cut stockers.

What tool(s) is everyone using to cut the fenders for such smooth cuts.

i used a jig saw with a fine tooth blade, then hit it with this dry wall rasp tool i have. i actually used a utility knife this morning to cut the fronts, just scored it with a straight edge and kept going over it.

And that got all the way through the fine see eventually? With a clean cut? That's good to know!

Just take your time and measure. That rasp tool works great and if you use a utility knife, be sure to have a fresh blade. Here are some close ups. About as straight as I can get it. And I wouldn't try a utility knife on anything but straight cuts.

I ended up using a 3" cutoff wheel and took my time. I tried using a pneumatic saw, but it was taking WAY too long for me. I hit the very minor imperfections with a sanding block after.

Also a good thing to do is use a fabric tape measure (I made my own) and take a ton of measurements to duplicate a mirror image on both sides. I have pics of all that I just mentioned in my build thread. :yup:
