anyone here try or like Ardbeg? It's some seriously peaty shit. I'm more of an Speyside whisky drinker preferring Glenlivet and Glenfiddich but my Uncle gave me some Ardbeg last x-mas and man that's some seriously smokey stuff lol. Wondering if anyone else likes it...

Im giving it a go tonight! I love the peaty stuff!

There you go, that's the stuff. Let us know what you think

Well it certainly has the peaty nose and flavor that I love. I enjoyed the taste and is a cheaper alternative to the Lagavulin which costs about twice as much. Granted the Lagavulin is far more rich than the Ardbeg, for half the price its a pretty good scotch!

Jmatta33 how was this? I've had a couple cask strength before and found it muddies the taste.

Thanks,
Paul

If you are referring to the Glenlivet, I'll just say I am not a fan. It has a spice flavor to it that almost tastes like rum. I know there are some people out there that love it, im just not one of those guys. Its the only Scotch I have had that I didn't really enjoy. While I have enjoyed various malts with different flavor profiles, the rich and peaty ones have been my personal favorite. The Lagavulin and Laphroaig have been the best that I have tried thus far in that category. I am very new to this so Im not an expert by any means and taste is obviously subjective to the individual.

Just got a fresh bottle and its a great alternative to a $100 bottle like a Lagavulin! Nice and peaty, great flavour and very smooth! ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1421868851.225246.jpg

Glenlivet 18

The go to, at $56 a bottle it paid for my Costco membership for years.
Sadly they have not had it in stock recently.

I really like trying different scotches. Developing a taste for speysides. Particularly the non-sherried finishes like benriach 12 and ancnoc 12. Haven't tried the glenlivet yet though
