Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

Been deer hunting the last couple of days so havent been working on the Jeep. I got back today around lunch time and decided to do some work. Ended up tacking the lower control arm mounts on where Artec suggest. I ended up managing to screw it up. I was completely confused on what I did then my dad just figured it out (my time spent in the stand must having me completely out of my mind). Here is a picture of where it is at. Im not actually going to be using the coil bucket and bump stop plates, but that is how Artec knows where to mount the control arm mounts so Im holding them in place.

That tab should been on the opposite side. So I guess tomorrow I will fix that and see how that works for me. Here is the pictures of what I did (wrong lmao).

I also ended up filler welding the top of the truss up where the side plates connect.

Ended up fixing the lower control arm mounts earlier (a couple times lol maybe I was trying to get them too close).

I then got the upper mount in place and tacked it up.

After that I ended up fully welding the lower control arm mounts all the way on as well as welding the sides of the truss to the tubes.

I then moved on to putting the gussets on the upper control arm mount. Because it was trimmed I had to do a bit of trimming there to make them work.

Tomorrow morning I plan on finishing up the other 2 gussets as well as fully weld the upper mount in. After that I will be able to sand blast and paint. Later I can grind off the places for the track bar mount and the shock mounts when I get there.

I also ended up making a list at the end of the day on things left to help myself keep track on things. Ive recently though of a few things I need to add which im sure there is still much more then that.

This morning before I had to take a break for awhile I finished with the 3link bracket.

After I did that I hung it up in the jeep. To keep from singing down I put some straps on it.

At some point im going to cut around a inch or a bit more off the bottom of the lower control arm mounts and box in the bottom of them.

I ended up sticking one of the tires on there as Thardy showed already. The axle is drooped a bit. Im probably gonna end up with a 3.5" lift or so. The axle is also not perfectly centered. I believe the axle will end up going a couple inches to the driver side. I also held on of the ORIs in the rear and it looks that I may be able to get away without even frenching the frame.

Damn they do look tiny I'm not sure what size he would have to go to look proportionate....... HUGE!!!

If I changed from a 40 Id go to a Super Swamper 43 SX.

Damn they do look small! I bet they'll look a little better once he gets his ride height dialed in.

Id say you will probably be right. Probably be close to the effect of someone with no flares in the rear except I will have flares lol.

Looks good bro! But those tires do look small, but I think once you get the ORIs on and the ride height adjusted, it will look damn good! Can't wait to see it when its done

Yeah man we will see. Im trying to decide on whether im going to go ahead and mount in the ORIs on the rear or move to the front.

Like I said before, if it works for you, great, not my cup of tea. I could understand going to more of a 15.5, but not 19.5.

Yea that's a wide damn tire at 19.5, and I feel like a tire that big would be pushing that axle to ita limits almost

Got a tiny bit of work done tonight. Took the front drive shaft off as well as the hydro assist, drag link and tierod.

I also pulled the brake line off the drive side caliper and took the wheels speed sensor loose.

So much for buttoning up the rear before moving to the front. :bleh:

Well what happened there is Im at a stand still until I have 2 tires mounted. Im still waiting on bolts so I figured it was better to start getting the front apart instead of digging in my ass lol.
