So Cal Coastal Drive

I am late to this, but I would love to meet some members, and I live in Huntington Beach,, so easy for me to attend at least a morning breakfast, thru lunch, but then I would need to go to work. I could also advise on some great places to meet up. Down Town HB is awesome and there are a couple of great places for food/coffee/view. My first suggestion would be Sanchos Tacos for breakfast burritos at PCH and 6TH. Great coffee there too. We could park in the 6th street parking lot and the kids could play on the sand.

I'm in the area all the time. Always pass sanchos tacos but have never stopped in. Usually there on Tuesdays for the main st farmers market.

Reviving an old thread with a crazy question.

Short question:
is anyone interested in driving my wife and I on a short scenic tour from Huntington Beach up the PCH and back? I'll pay for a tank of gas and buy your lunch.

Long Explanation:
My wife and I take a trip each year to celebrate our anniversary by catching an away Texas Rangers game (It was her idea from the beginning). This year we picked the Angels from April 7-10.
My wife has never been to California and I would love to show her the west coast from the perspective of the perfect naked vehicle.

While we are staying in Huntington Beach I thought it would be cool for her to see why the PCH is so famous. I thought about renting a jeep but then I thought maybe there's a way to make this a great experience and connect with other Wayalifers.
She is constantly making fun of me for how much time I spend lurking on this forum. If she sees me on the phone diligently reading She will ask, "are you looking at jeep porn again?" This would be a great opportunity to show her how powerful this nerdy addiction can be, and how the Wayalife community helps each other out.
I wouldn't mind taking it one step further. if this is something that interests others in the area, maybe we could make a "coastal run" of it. (Which is basically how I found this thread) One jeep is fun, many jeeps is funner. :)
Plus I'd love to have some allies when I bring up the topic of why 37s are worth the money.

Btw-I'm keeping this a secret from my wife, would love to surprise her.

Let me know if anyone is up for this strange request. Totally fine if no one replies - I think this is a little odd myself. But making lasting memories, helping others, having fun and connecting with people that have common interests essentially sounds like the Wayalife to me.
(Cue sentimental music)

If you're starting in HB, you might be better off heading south. Heading north you really only have seal beach and long beach. You head south you can go nearly down to the border all along the coast (except through camp Pendleton).

Unfortunately I'm not available that weekend. Worse case, rent a convertible mustang and enjoy your vacation. [emoji106]

I appreciate the info! Only reason I thought about heading north was because I read it in this thread. South would work just as good too. We aren't picky. Thanks again!

Let me know Im sure I can help.

Sounds great! We would love the help! We were thinking Thursday, Friday or Saturday during lunch time. Whichever day would work best with your schedule. Maybe Saturday in case others would like to join.
Appreciate it!

If you have time to ride up to Big Sur from L.A... DO IT! The drive between San Luis Obispo and Big Sur is absolutely amazing! Hell, I'll drive ya.

That sounds like a blast! I just googled those spots and it looks like over a 6 hour drive (one way) from Huntington Beach. Not sure that will work, unless we rented a vehicle and made an entire day out of it. I was just thinking a shorter 1hr drive somewhere with some fellow jeepers, have lunch and come back. I didn't want to inconvenience anyone too much with my request.

We will put your location on our bucket-list if we end up having to rent and wanting to drive for a day. thanks for the suggestion Shantz!

You won't find views like this going south. Like Shantz said, this is what your drive will consist of. When I was sitting shotgun, I must have counted more than a dozen whales.

Every time I drive up to San Fran from L.A... on the way up or back I drive it at least once. Well worth the extra couple of hours.

Yup, some amazing coastal views in central CA coast, but those aren't short drives. Even just to Malibu from HB and back is a half day, minimum. I'm guessing you want to enjoy the scenery and not just "drive thru" any place you visit. [emoji6]

An hr north from HB you can make it to long beach and then you'd need to do Palos verdes peninsula. Nice, but not the best coastal experience.

Head south you've got Newport Beach, corona del mar, Laguna, Dana point, San Juan Capistrano (can see a CA mission), etc. Those are all awesome coastal cities with plenty of places to stop and enjoy the views, shopping, drinks and/or dining.

Now THAT is cool. I can't imagine living over there and seeing that every day.

You are right JAGS. We would ultimately like to enjoy the ride and locations. Thanks for the heads up on the locations!

I appreciate all the advice. Looks like we might have to rent a vehicle if we are going to cruise the coast. Let me know if someone wants to volunteer last minute, we would be forever grateful.
If not, no worries, we will wave at every jeep in Cali that we see! Thanks!
