LOL!! Oh yeah, that's far from what I would call rust. I can practically scratch it off with my finger nails. And, that's only on the homemade trailer hitch supports :)

Hey Jesse3638, it was nice of you to come by to Camp WAYALIFE and say hello today. I was going to take a pic of your jeep while you were here but totally forgot. Anyway, I hop you have a safe drive home. :)

Hey Eddie, I totally forgot about this thread and just now saw this. Its been a busy summer and thanks again for having me. Sorry when we passed through last month we didn't get a chance to grab a beer. Only spent one night there and go tin late. The first night we were going to we got called out to cold springs for 5 days. I'll be sure to let you know the next time I'm passing through. Possibly December.

It's all good - hopefully we can hook up the next time you're in the area.

LOL - had a rough day yesterday. Been trying to solve a vapor locking issue we've been having with Emma and thought I was able to get it by installing a new sending unit and fuel filter so that I could connect a return line. This is how it would have come from the factory and my hope was that the constant flow of fuel would help to keep things cool. For good measure, I also wrapped the lines with some thermo tape. Yesterday was pretty hot and so Cindy and I decided to take her for a stress test (with Moby following just in case) and for the better part of the day, she did great. We drove all the way up into Hope Valley and even spent a good amount of time on dirt. Unfortunately, the slow speed climbing and in the heat was just too much for Emma and she vapor locked yet again.

After letting her cool off, we were able to get her back off the mountain and made it all the way back to Genoa where it was in the 90's but then she vapor locked again while slowly making her way though some kind of event. After letting her cool off again, I got her all the way back to Carson City and almost home when she locked up once again. Fortunately, we were ultimately able to get her home and on her own power but, it still proved to be a much longer day than we had planned for.

And, as if that weren't enough, after we got home, we decided to take Rusty out to run an errand and soon after we got on 395, I noticed the radio loosing power and the lights starting to dim. Just as we pulled into a Home Depot parking lot, our engine cut out. As it would appear, the alternator had given out and our battery was dead. Fortunately, our son was off of work and was able to give us a ride home where we could get Moby and a pair of jumper cables. After giving Rusty a charge, we were able to get it fired up and managed to just get home where he finally gave out just in front of his stable. And, this is where my day is going to begin

So you didn't get anything accomplished yesterday then? :blah:

:cheesy: thanks, I needed that :bleh:

Job security! You should come work for the government, sounds like something we'd do...haha. You fill your whole day doing something but in the end really accomplished little to nothing. Forget all of this Jeep Wayalife hooey..;)

On second thought I'd much rather do what you do even if I'd have to wrench on things..:)

Eddie, I assume you've checked this, but all of your fuel lines and the pump itself away from exhaust components and manifold? I used to do a lot of Sand Dune stuff down in AZ (high temps and hills), I've also seen some guys have good luck moving the inline pump (if that's what you have) further back on the vehicle toward the tank instead of the engine to keep it cooler.

Running an electric pump mounted to the outside of the frame rail right next to the gas tank. The previous owner routed the main fuel line across the tub about mid way and it's close to one of the two mufflers. It is heat shielded but I think this is where my problem spot is. I am going to try and reroute the lines along the passenger side frame rail as it was stock. It'll still be close to one of the exhaust pipes but it'll be the lesser of the two evils.

Gotcha. Good luck. And it only acts up when outside temperatures rise correct?

Worked on our old 40" mud grapplers today to try and fix at least 2 of the leaks to give us a solid 4 good tires. Fortunately, we were able to do that but there just was no helping the 5th - guess it'll have to be a spare.

Just as I was installing them, I noticed something wasn't quite working out. Anyone wanna take a guess what happened next?

Yup, you guessed it - busted a wheel stud.
