Wow beer in a wine bottle! That's new to me here in Abilene Texas. What a neat idea! Tonight it's just a can of Budweiser but I do love a Heineken

you would have to get all technical on me :cheesy:

unfortunately, i don't know for sure. what the bottle says is that the beer is "refermented in the bottle with Brettanomyces bruxellensis". it says "Brux will change and develop over time. copper-colored, dry and complex, with slightly tart notes of green grass, pear, spice and lemon. i definitely taste dryness, the tart notes and spices and enjoy them a lot.

You'd think Texas would be great for Beer.... But Abilene, Waco, Longview: I could have looked harder, but people seem confused when I ask about local craft brews. I've had the same trouble in San Antonio. Addison, on the north side of Dallas has a bar that serves up some rare stuff.

When I get back home I'll post some pics of the tasty suds I picked up in Wisconsin last week...

Really wish I could make it out to CA more often for stuff like that!

As it is, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Georgia provide me with the majority of beer worth bringing home. Sometimes I can find Colorado or Oregon beers in those states as well. The one saving grace is that in the past 5 years the Craft Brew industry in Indiana has exploded. Every few months it seems like another brewery starts producing quality stuff nearby.

You guys need to check out untappd.com + their phone apps. Helps you discover new brews as well as force you to try stuff you wouldn't normally(when competing with your friends). Been using it since private beta.

Chumleys does alright, but I've aged beyond my Broadripple days :) Sunking, Flat 12, and others have gone beyond my expectations...and the number of bars and restaurants willing to cary the local brews is even more impressive.

Never a case...I get full before I get buzzed. ;) But when it's hot as hell out and you need something other than water...a good old macro beer is the way to go. Plus I hate drinking stuff that you need a doctorate in to figure out (same goes for coffee).

Now before you get a high and mighty about your refined sense of taste just know that I developed and perfected my sense of beer drinking in the pacific northwest...I have had some of the finest beers made and enjoy them too. But sometimes only the bullet that is silver will satisfy. :)

Yep. I knew the one was Raspberry Tart, couldn't remember the name of the Cherry.

Was up in Milwaukee a couple weeks ago and spent $100 on New Glarus beer to bring home...kinda wiped out my beer budget for a few weeks

I never even heard of cider until the aircraft carrier I was on went on a booze cruise to various ports around Europe. Stuff is everywhere in France and Italy. Strongbow is on tap everywhere there and luckily I've found a few stores that carry it here.

Failed to take a pic... Was at the North Peak Brewing Company for dinner last night, in Traverse City, Michigan. While I've tried some of their bottled offerings before, like the Diabolical IPA, beers on tap were a bit more interesting. They had a Cask Ale, Willemette Valley Red Ale, that I tried....'twas the first time I've seen a cask ale offered like this. Bartender seemed to get a good workout pulling the pint I ordered, and while I was hesitant to try a non-carbonated beer served at cellar temp (50*), it did not disappoint. Bit of a bite when it first hit the tongue, but really mellowed out almost instantly into a smooth tasty brew. I drink a beer slow (a beer that arrives shortly after I sit down will usually be finished as I'm paying the bill), which typically allows me to enjoy the change in flavors as temp increases...this Ale was very consistent.

In short: good stuff.
