Coffee Drinkers & Bean Grinders

Thats a nice pot. I keep meaning to try an Aeropress but I always make a full 12 cup pot each day so I only have to do that once.
I got my wife an Aeropress for Christmas 2016. I thought it would be a nice switch from the Keurig on the weekends. Well after we had one cup (Maui grown), the Keurig has been reduced to dispensing 8oz of 192° water to be used in the Aeropress. Yes it's an expensive tea kettle now...haha. to become part of my morning routine. I make 2 14oz (for room) cups of coffee for us each morning typically followed by another 16oz (black) for my to-go. It is tedious but starting my day slowed down has helped my not feel like rushing all day. I have a second one at work with a hand grinder which I'll sometimes use for another 16oz afternoon coffee.

As Brute mentioned don't boil your water. If I do I set a red for 1 min after it stops and that typically let's it reduce to between 195-200°. Plus add the hot water to your grounds not put the coffee in the water then heat.

I've been geeking out a little too much..haha. I've seriously been contemplating a risky business endeavor. You can't have a chance for success if you don't take intelligent risks. It's very scary but exciting too. I'll keep everyone posted and may solicit some advice from everyone here.

Well it seems like I better try out an aeropress! Looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve ;)

I almost went there to get my first cup but ended up not because I didn’t want to have to run errands after[emoji23], either way it’s maybe 1.5 miles from me so I might modify my run so that I can swing by there🤙🏾 don’t they have food there as well?

Sorry just saw this. They don’t make food but usually have an assortment of muffins/scones. On Friday mornings there is often a food truck in the parking lot of the Riverside Hub. They have a damn good looking breakfast sandwich.

I haven’t had a scone or a muffin in years. Sounds so damn good right now

So I’ve been doing this ice coffee thing and to keep it from getting watered down I freeze coffee instead water. I was wondering how I keep all the grit from getting into the mix? I’m using a French dark roast

Really, its a personal preference deal. I don't mind them but my wife hates em so I get it. When I get close to the bottom of the last cup from the pot I just swirl it around to mix it up. SDG has a good idea on the filter if you don't like to deal with them.

Edit - What you don't want to do is use any filter that will absorb any of the coffee solution. Any kind of filter that has paper will do this. You'll end up with foul tasting coffee water. :icon_crazy: Most metal filters should be ok.

I'm a huge coffee fan and grind my own every morning if I'm not using the Nespresso. Current Coffee I'm using is Black Rifle Coffee Company Blackbeards Delight Blend because I bought so much of it at the Nations Gun Show. Love this stuff and the last bit is currently in my grinder as we speak. I'll be subscribing to this thread for sure.

Setups:

Keurig B70 Platinum (For Nieces and Nephews for their Hot Chocolate. Or my wife makes me Hot Toddies with it. LOL)
Nespresso Vertuo (Favorite is Altissio Espresso)
Bodum Chambord 34 ounce French Press (Weekend Coffee Use when I have time)
Technivorm Moccamaster KBGT Polished Silver (Weekday Use. Brews in 6 Minutes so great for my work schedule)

Grinder:

Baratza Virtuoso Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

Coffee that I enjoy and order from Amazon.

Death Wish Organic USDA Certified Whole Bean Coffee
Valhalla Java Whole Bean Coffee by Death Wish Coffee Company
Kicking Horse Coffee, Kick Ass Dark and 454 Horse
Lavazza Super Crema

Just got my order of black riffle last week have it shipped every 30 days and they send me 4 bags at a time. Their coffee by far is the best cup of coffee I have ever had and on top of it I'm helping my fellow brothers out that keep me and my family safe.

I decided to no longer buy coffee at the store and buy on amazon from now on to try new kinds. This came in today. I have had the Starbucks, that’s not a new kind. Just ordered some.

Great Minds think a like. My Amazon order just came in on Wednesday and I have a few new ones to try because of this thread. The 3 on the bottom are new for me and the Grizzly Claw and Major Dickason's are from this thread. Amazon recommended the Koffee Kult so we will see. This should last me a few weeks. LOL

Peets is very good. I've not had the Koffee Kult yet - how does it compare to the others you have there?
