JEEP TRAIL OFFROAD GPS: What GPS is everyone running?

I use on X hunt. You can download maps of the area you are going to use when you don’t have cell service. It still picks up satellites. Also the layers allow one to see private properties, blm land, burn areas, and state land so you don’t drift accidentally.

Personally, I prefer to use GAIA on my iPhone. Works on a tablet as well and can be had on Android too if needed.

I started using the same about a year ago. Very impressed with it.

Best part is that it will sync to all my devices.

Another Gaia user here. You can download the maps to your phone so you can still see where you’re at even if there’s no service. Was thinking about having a dedicated iPad with a Bluetooth gps but haven’t really had a need for all that.

I just downloaded Gaia and have been playing around. How does everyone find cool trails in their area? The Texas hill country has some. But I’m having issues getting them on the app. Or do I just need to figure out way points and build my own route?

I’m not sure you can from the app but if you go to Gaia on your PC you can select an overlay of all the tracks that people have made public. It’s pretty useful.

Do you need an account or pay a monthly service to search and download trails? I’ve had the free version for a while but there is no database of trails.

I didn’t know there was a free version, I think I bought the app for $20 but there’s no monthly service. The only database of trails I’m aware of is the public tracks I mentioned above.

You’re right... I did pay a one time $20 for the app. But I never created an account or subscribed to a monthly/yearly fee.
