I would think that, on the JT, the motivation for the LCG set up should be less as compared to the JK/JL. Particularly given the countervailing concerns of belly and tail dragging. Time and experience will tell.

I think you’re right. I noticed on the trails that even in some really off camber situations it didn’t feel too heavy. The only drawback to wheelbase I see at this point is going through tight s-turn scenarios. There was a spot this weekend that I know would’ve been difficult in the truck compared to the 4 door wheelbase.

Took the Gladiator out for a walk amongst the rocks this weekend and all I can say is WOW, this thing wheels feakin’ awesome! Didn’t get a chance to take a lot of pics since I was driving but managed to grab a few. Had some issues that need to be resolved with the suspension and drivetrain but overall, I feel like you just point and shoot with it. The 6.5” lift works extremely well and provides the clearance I think they need to reduce the departure angle concerns, so I’m curious how these lower profile setups perform. I still think once I settle on a rear coilover setup, I’m going to lower it about 1”. I’ll also be trimming the fenders when that happens.

The longer wheelbase allowed us to come at some obstacles we normally would’ve felt a lot more sketchy on with a Wrangler. The breakover, at least with the 6.5”, was hardly the issue I thought it would be. In my opinion the Sport transfer case combined with the 4.7 first gear of the transmission and 5.38’s is very sufficient, in fact almost too much. Low range is very touchy and I’d be curious what the Rubicons like Wayalife have to say about it. All in all these Gladiators can rock crawl and in my opinion, better than the Wrangler when it’s properly equipped.

They excel at hill climbs and off camber situations...but wait until you get on a tight trail with lots of turns...ask me how I know (he’s doing another 3 point turn?)...but I agree, most people have no clue how well they do in the rocks...

I’m not looking forward to any place that has trees close to the trails. When I was at Hot Springs this summer in the JK I could tell that would be nearly impossible in the JT.

Thanks man. Every honest Jeep owner knows the build is never complete. I thought I was close with the JK and then wouldn’t you know, I’ve decided I want more horsepower. I’m also toying with the idea of gutting it and dropping a 4L80 behind it instead of the 6L80.

Just because I reside within the same boundaries does not in any way mean I share the same mindset. Same goes for Cali.

That reminds me... Where were all the nut jobs? Funny how I never run into raging left wing nuts here or there. Makes me wonder if they really exist.
