Take a dip here and DIE!! No joke, it was 108 degrees out and steam was still rising from the clear blue waters at this remote hot springs. Early emigrants literally cooked their food in it.

That's pretty cool! Doest look hot, but I bet u can feel the heat from a distance.
 
That's actually kind of scary. It's the type of thing my retriever would run and jump into without thinking twice about it. At 180 degrees, I don't think she would survive long enough to jump back out.

The water was really really hot and you could feel it radiating ust standing next to it. I was tempted to touch it directly but, getting my hand just above the water got me thinking about it twice. Cindy suggested that we stuck a rag in it, pull it out, allow it to cool a bit and then touch it. Even at that, it was too hot to handle for more than a few seconds.

Lol! So you are the guy who always touches the wet paint just to make certain the "Wet Paint" sign is telling the truth.:cheesy::cheesy:

I thought the same thing. First place our dog heads for is nearest water or mud puddle to splash in.

In New Zeland they use the hot springs like we use BBQ's. I was watching a Food Channel special on it. Seems pretty cool.

Agreed. You'd have to have an idea of how you want your stay to be like. The casinos offer some good deals and of course, food/entertainment is close by but, if you want to get away, you might want to look into renting a cabin. If you want something affordable but not in a casino, there are a host of motels in South Lake Tahoe. When we run the Rubicon, we typically stay at the Super 8 as they have ground units right next to where you park so taking off your doors is easy and storing them pretty cheap. Of course, the rooms are just okay at best. When we're up here for July, we stay at a timeshare in South Lake Tahoe.
