Lockers

My preference is for ARB air. Instant on and off engagement, reliability, and excellent customer service are the reasons. I recently had an issue with my ARB compressor. I was repairing a small air leak by putting some new plumbers tape on and accidentally broke a bolt by overtorquing it. I called ARB tech support and they sent me new bolt, manifold end and o-rings. No questions asked except my address. And they sent it 2nd day air. They didn't hassle me about where or when it was purchased or proof of purchase. I didn't have to sit through an automated list of options to get to tech support either. They were fast and efficient in helping get me back in action.

where do you mount the air compressor? is it loud when turned on?

Numerous locations. Seems like most jk guys mount it under the hood. It's loud, but not a big deal when the longest you'll run it for airing up is 10 minutes. Mine is in the back cargo area and the noise doesn't bother the wife or kids. I hardly even hear it when I'm down by the tire airing up. As far as lockers, it might come on for a second or two.

I've burned a hole thru the blue line to the rear locker once...fortunately, we had a splice kit that arb sells...worked like a charm. I've since replaced the blue lines with ss braid...

I just bought an ARB for my new axles and I'm about to buy the other ARB for the rear axle, what kind of lines did you buy? Like ss brake lines? Or something different? I'm wanting to go that way so I don't have to worry about melting a tube

There are stainless steel arb lines kits out there for upgrades. Nitro makes one, Crown makes one. I just did a quick Google search.

Honestly I haven't melted a tube on my rear since I installed it a few years back. If you run the line down the passenger side then across the firewall (if you mount the compressor under the hood) you will have no issues

Definitely in the minority, but I have had two Eaton E-lockers on front axles and have had no problems. Just ran Windrock with the fellow jeeper I sold my previous axle to with the E-locker and we had no issues. We wheel pretty hard. The comments regarding the axles is correct, you cannot get the 35 spline with the Eaton E-locker. You also need an air compressor for tires and tools. I got the portable ARB twin air compressor which is kind of pricey, but fills the bill. I was worried about the underhood heat roasting the seals of the air compressor, although my friends with the underhood mount haven't told me of any problems they have had except for melted air lines occasionally.

Would like to see the compressor under the hood, looks cleaner. but I cant see much space there to place it?

I mounted mine under the passenger seat to be different ;)
Really, I had to relocate my vacuum pump because my bumper required it and it'd be too crowded with it there. I do like it in the passenger compartment out of the elements.
Would be a pain in the ass if I ever have to work on it though - you have to remove the seat to do so..

My bumper required it too and I just zip tied it a couple of times to the radiator support haha. 1 year in and still holding strong!

I went with the ARB twin and the MORE mount with my 3.6 and am very happy with the setup. Used it to set the bead on my beadlocks last night.

What is everyone's opinion on the eaton lockers cause I'm leaning more towards them just because they are slightly cheaper.

I was looking at there four pin design not the weaker one

I think overall impression of Eaton is that they're good lockers. But don't buy something just because it's slightly cheaper. ARB might be more expensive, but worth the extra bit of cash that is forked out. It's your build, but try not to base your decisions on what would save me a little more money. I started that way and had to reinvest more into my jeep than I ultimately should have. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, you make a good point I would really like the arb but I figured get everyone's opinion. And it seems everyone is running the arb for good reasons.
