An attentive Allpar fan just let us know that, according to a statement by Reid Bigland, head of U.S. sales for Chrysler Group, the new mid-size Jeep will be called the Cherokee, not the Liberty. Since the previous models were sold as Cherokees in other markets, we assume this was done to settle on a worldwide name for the model.
The statement came during a broadcast of the charity preview of the North American International Auto Show on Detroit TV station WXWZ, Channel 7.
