Not a 100% but I don't think you can do 5.38 in a 30.

Yukon does offer a 5.38 gear set for a Dana 30........probably not a big seller though.....

How many of you guys have been to off road evolution- and on the front of the front counter there is a bunch Of parts welded onto some expanded steel... There is a dana 30 ring gear on there.... It is so small I thought my daughters power wheel would have enough torque to break it!! It's tiny!!!

Most people don't recommend over a 4:88 for your d30, and really don't recommend your d30 having 40" tires, but I guess if you don't wheel it hard, or drive it fast offroad, it might survive a little while. Good luck!!
