Best tires for sand trails and highway.

jeep2.pngWell it's time for some new shoes. Where we ride at is a lot of sand, deep sand at spots, light rocks and mud. We travel 2.5 hours Each way, every weekend to out camp property down the interstate, so that has to come into play also. I've been looking at Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and also the KO2. Lets here those opinions.

Thus far we are really happy with Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Primarily used on the highway (and some city driving). I did take a short trip with them in some light snow/ice with steep inclines and I did not lose control.

I ran the Rubicon factory K02s for several years. One trip was unexpectedly 90 miles in 4WD on a mountain highway at 45-50 mph in freezing snow and the tires did well. But the tires did not all wear the same, even given 5 way rotations, so I was not happy about that.

Last set of BFG's I had also did not wear even like every other set before them and why I am trying the Nitto Ridge, been happy with them over the past 2 years

another vote for the ridge grapplers. had them on my jeep for the past 4 years now in the snow and some sand roads. they do very well in all conditions

As others have said, I don't think you would go wrong with either one. I've been running the Ridge Grapplers for a few years, and they have been great. I've had them in compact snow and ice, deep snow, sandy trails, muddy trails, gravel roads, and multiple long-distance road trips.

I am a fan of the Ridge Grapplers. Put a set on my Tundra and rode out for 70k on them. True story. Had the BFG's on a previous jeep and they did well for the first 20k and went to shit after that. Will nit wear anywhere as good as the Nitto's. That's my experience with both.

Toyo has a new A/T out that looks pretty good
I've been running the Toyo R/T Trail 37x12.50 17 for the last 4 months. Running down the highway they are quiet and smooth and recently at KOH and Dumont been in the sand with them. They performed really well. Street pressure (26 psi) and 2wd no hopping, chatter, or spinning. Can't speak for how they perform in mud or snow because I avoid mud and we don't get much snow...haha. I've put about 4k miles on them and am happy so far. They have a 45k mile warranty as well.
