Critter Tread - Trapping

What do you do with the bodies from the possums and coons? Bury them?
I release most of them. If we decide to get turkeys next year, that won't be the case. Skunks die no matter what. I have 5 or 6 decent size coons/possums in the freezer right now. Just haven't had time to do anything with them. They don't bother me running around out there but they sure find the traps the quickest. Seems like they're the first ones out at night. That's why I had so many DP traps out last year, just so they'd stay away from the yote traps. Hoping the fur is at least worth something. Skulls definitely are.

You heart shot then? I always shoot in the head.

I noticed in the fall, all of the deer entered and exited through this spot on the lower right. And yotes now doing the same thing every night. Once the cold goes away, I may just throw 4-5 sets right here in the path and block the sides slightly. Just walk through sets with no odors.

These things were howling all night. Didn't get any sleep. Sounded like at least 4. I've got a couple new ideas for today. One involving setting up multiple traps in that walkway. I looked at it this morning and have a plan I think will work.

And I'm putting out all my dog proofs today. Another possum this morning and I don't want a repeat of last year. I'm hoping to put them up higher on something a few inches to keep skunks out. Coons and possums can climb.

And lastly I have some ham or chicken scraps in the freezer. I'm going to put those spread out in the open with some dog food a few feet out in front of the new walk through traps. I'll do something similar near the 650 traps. Obvious end goal is yotes, but that will also keep other critters busy munching. And I assume yotes will use the same walkway no matter what.

And lastly, fix this mess:

I’ve never dealt with yotes but we had neighbors dogs stealing our chickens Sherrif said to bait them with cat food. They said it has a stronger scent. They wanted me to catch the dog I just wanted to kill it. Neighbor ended up getting rid of it before either of those things could happen.

Do you know what time he came in?
No idea. I don’t think it would have been a bear since I’m assuming the bear would have broke the coop. I never heard anything last night but the heater in the RV is loud so that may have masked it. Gonna put a camera out tonight and see if it comes back. No trace of the skull anywhere.

That looks like lectric netting. Didn’t keep them away? I have a solar charger you’re welcome to it. Could probably use a new battery but works pretty well
Yes it is electric. We never had any issues this close to the house/RV and when I moved the chickens there in July I was short chargers. (Have four total) but I do have an extra one now that I don’t have turkeys and will hook it up. Just never did because we never had issues.

Yup. Cat food is the best. You’ll get everything day one. Maybe even a couple cats lol
