Critter Tread - Trapping

@WJCO @OverlanderJK

I have been meaning to ask you guys if you’ve seen any Mountain Lions down there. We saw one several years back but have seen no evidence since.
You can read one article or gov doc saying they're not here, and others with wildlife officials saying there are confirmed sightings. They're likely here but not established.

In CO, a friend of mine was surrounded by wolves, got pictures, and told the ranger. Ranger said it was coyotes and there were no wolves in the state. Another ranger came to her privately and told her they were wolves and they're aware of a wolf pack in that area. A couple years later it was officially released that wolves had made their way down to that area.

So yes we probably have lions here. I have not seen one.

Personally no. They are here though. I would shoot it. Then put the collar if there is one in the neighbors yard so they get arrested and I can buy their house. But don’t tell anyone my plan.

They are definitely here. A neighbor a few miles away had one on doorbell camera a few weeks back. On the other side of 81 where there is a quarry and lots of woods.

So I catch this guy yesterday.

Ground is so muddy that I can't remake anything. I went ahead and set the traps and just left them on top of the ground. I figure it saves me a little time for when storm passes in a couple of days. And of course there is a little hope in me that with bait still present, a yote steps on one. But I really expected nothing since they were fully visible and wobbly.

Didn't stop this dumbass last night.

And dino set is also flooded out.

This guy came barreling through the woods last night just like what happened a few weeks ago when I had daily and nightly activity. With breeding season, I have to assume they're searching for ass. Wouldn't be surprised if this was the mate of the clown two days ago.

Still hanging around now. Found one of the new dirt hole sets and had zero interest in it. Can't have sex with food I guess.

Went out and checked traps. That walk through set with 4, he missed one by 2 inches. Lucky sob.

We're just going to put a happy little stick where that paw print is.

I'm going to clean up mud around all trap jaws today once water subsides. Suppose to get to low 20s tonight. Hope these things don't freeze.

Just weighed this guy. 36 pounds. Felt heavier than that Monday. Definitely heavier than the 2 last year.

He was easier to lift today from being balled up in the freezer. His frozen leg was like a suitcase handle.
Do you freeze them whole with organs and everything?
