EV Awesomeness

It will be interesting to see if they try to ban them here. You recall that some in the US gov are trying to ban DJI drones and because of the threat of spying and data sharing.
The problem is that most things we buy (including cars) are full of parts made in China, even if they are assembled in Indiana. If pagers can be made to explode, then surely some parts can be subverted to behave differently when exposed to a special code.

The amount of computer/device firmware and software which originates from programmers in some other country, or are recently from there, is amazing.

If you are accessing the Internet, the probability is extremely high that you are using a product which was made in China.

Have any of y'all driven and/or owned a Tesla? Most American made vehicles on the road today...
I know a few people with them and they really like them. If you're just going local, short trips, they are nice cars. For any trips where you have to recharge along the way, it takes a looooong time.

While it can add a little bit of time to a trip, it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. In 200k miles of driving my teslas, I’ve been cross country several times. Usually drive for 2 hours, stop for 10-15 mins to charge. When I drive my Jeep, I end up stopping the same amount of time to stretch, use the bathroom, etc..

The day to day driving is even better; the car charges over a couple of hours while I sleep, ready to go in the morning. Plus, it’s nice to support something made in the USA.

I've driven quite a few Teslas - S, 3, X, Y... and I'll give it to them that their quiet and ride comfortably, but the build quality and the lines of idiots at superchargers in shopping malls is what kills it for me.

I'll just never get behind electric. I like Elon though.

FYI, there are some charging stations in Carrizozo, NM at the intersection of 380 and 54. This may mean that you are no longer enslaved by the major super-highways and might even get to see something interesting.

Text me if you require more data regarding this critical discovery.
