I don't think so. He has had that cage for a while now. This is the EVO Cage.

We stopped by Off Road Evolution today to check out the progress on EVO 1. Mel and crew are currently in the process of tearing out all the factory wiring in preparation for a motor and trans swap. :yup:

I was just reading about this cage and that is exactly what I was thinking.I say no need for R&D just give me the EVO 1 cage and we will call it good.....

You are correct LoPo! That is the test fit rig being used for the new cage and will ultimately receive the prototype that we will all probably be running :rock:

He's using a 727 trans? I know EVO 1 is a dedicated trail rig for the most part, but highway driving will be interesting with the 1:1 3rd gear and no overdrive. If it's a lockup 727 that'll help. Curious if Mel plans on sticking with the 5.38 gears or if he's changing axle gears. Cool to see him do his own thing instead of just going with the 5R45RFE tranny from the Ram/Grand Cherokee.
