GARDENING Thread

Decent haul tonight. Also picked out potatoes and in the process of getting attacked by a huge red ant populate, we got 13 pounds even. Not bad for only a dozen or so small slips.

For reference, those baskets will hold ten pounds of strawberries.
Looks great! What are you going to do with your potatoes? Do you have any advice on curing and storing them?

Let them cure in a cool dry place for a couple weeks then store them as cool as possible in a humid area. The top bunk of our camper is where right now. We will eat all these before too long I’m sure since we didn’t get that many.

Hoping to maybe work on a root cellar of some sort next year.

So we red clay, which I understand is high in iron. Thinking our best option is raised beds, like Adam built, bringing in good black dirt.

What I never understood is what do you do with the harvest? You can’t possibly eat it all. Do you can it?
Red clay when dry, what a bugger to till to break ground to plant.. and yes, you can share with your neighbors or can it!
