Gordo's slow build / picture thread

I’ve been wanting to get up to the trails around and north of Phoenix for awhile now. My work and family schedule prevent me from driving 3-4 hours one way, hit the trails and then drive home. I’m definitely going to need a few days off to get up that way. I’ll watch for runs posted and join if I can. It would be great to meet some WAL folks.

It’s nice having it when you need it, huh? I went about a year and a half not needing it to using it 6-7 times on one trail. It’s soooo nice to have!

Definitely a life saver!! I’ll be back there mid August so just let me know any time! My parents are in Tucson so I spend a lot of time there also.

One day I'll own a winch...haha. Until then when it's just my wife and I, I try not to over do it where I can break or get stuck. I also tell someone where we'll be. If faced with your situation I'd have just turned around because I hate cleaning off mud...haha. Glad you had the necessary equipment to get you out.

Time for a road trip!

hey all, my wife and I are moving back to Arizona, this east coast is just killing me! We are taking the route as shown in the image before, so i can add Nebraska, Iowa, and Wyoming to my list of states to visit.

Any must do things along this route?

Check out https://www.roadsideamerica.com/

You can plug in the state and view by route. There is some fun stuff to go see!

Lucky dog! Good luck with the move. That's a good route. Kansas is to be avoided at all costs. Kansas sucks.

Great idea!

Although I found it because Eddie and Cindy did it, the musical Route 66 section, east of Albuquerque is on there. I do realize that isn’t your route but that the kind of cool/odd/kind of unknown stuff you’ll find on there.

Think we are gonna do the dakotas so won’t make it that way, but I have driven it before in previous vehicles

So the getting stuck in mud did some work on the engine. Initially they said that it was the power steering pump making all the noise. I went in today to check and the alternator is also making a whine so both are getting replaced (after a massive fight over Facebook they are covering it for free)

And they gave me a jl sport for a loaner, and the wife loves it.

May be in a rubicon jl in a few hours...
