I enjoy reading and thinking about AI, automation and the future in general and came across this video that I thought some of you would enjoy.

Most people who are clamoring for $15/hr minimum wage could easily be replaced by automation, or are already being replaced by automation. They're trying to price themselves out of a job.

While firefighting might be something that could one day be taken over by machine, I doubt paramedicine or emergency medical services could be done by robotics.

No machine could take the endless BS. ;)

While I like certain things that technology has brought us. I've always said and felt that technology will be the death of us in one shape or form.

As I work on a college campus, it's amazing how little the college age kid can do or has done in their past. It's also amazing how little they can do without having their phone.

I couldn't agree with this more. Technology has brought great advancements in my field as well. We wouldn't have cardiac monitors, advanced defibrillators, and medication pumps. But, as a college student also, I understand what you are saying.

I remember even the first time I went through school 5 years ago, there were very few "E-books". Now, you are the odd man out if you use an actual book. And honestly, why would we when e books are a fraction of the price?

While some of the advancements are great, one thing I hate to see and that really grinds my gears, is seeing adolescents/adults and even smaller children with there faces buried in their phones as if they were zombies. While people use their phones for work and I understand that, the majority of them are just using it as an excuse not to be social.

I agree. My kids can't even imagine a world before mobiles....it's like I grew up in the dark ages. Technology is robbing us of our ability to think and calculate. I think it is good within reason but it seems reason has gone out the door.

Well, we are all doomed! Future humans will be isolated to professional athletes, actors and pornstars. Pretty sure those areas didn't make the video.

I think its for the better that people are replaced with robots where a general muscle labor is needed. In factories, constructions and so on. Machines makes our working life safer, numbers of accidents at work must be lower than ever. And people won't lose they jobs, they will need just to find another job, where they could use their intelligence and learn everyday, which is also not so bad. ;)

Welcome to Wayalife.

This is an interesting topic for sure and how the story eventually unfolds will be fascinating to be part of and observe.

I drank from the garden hose and played in the woods as a kid... Now it's sit on the couch play games and drink soda. Scary if you ask me. Not how my kids will be brought up.

I agree. We have down time for the young ones. They get about 1/2 hour a night in the electronic world, Then it's back to reality, homework and outside time mountain biking hiking street hockey and other sports. It's all about a healthy balanced lifestyle.
