Many of us will be forced to dispose of our current PC (which is working just fine) and buy a new PC which is qualified to run Windows 11. This is a lot of cost and churn just to be able to safely continue using Microsoft Windows.

Yep, have a perfectly powerful I7 Alienware R17 and it was deemed unworthy of windows 11 by Microsoft.

There is supposedly a way to pay a small fee and get some security updates for a year. It has not been offered to me yet. It is claimed that one more update is coming, and then maybe it will be offered to me.

If you log into your PC using your Microsoft authentication, then these security fixes come for "free", but then your PC becomes enslaved to Microsoft.
