I currently at the MET across from
Central Park...if you are an aficionado of guitar and/or rock and roll, you absolutely need to see the exhibit “Play It Loud...The Instruments Of Rock And Roll”...incredibly phenomenal!!!!

Here is Muddy Waters “The Boss” 1958 Telecaster...

I would kill to own this tele...

Jimmy Page’s 1961 Danelectro...he first started playing this in 1963 when he was a studio session guitarist, then later when he joined the Yardbirds. He recorded When The Levee Breaks, In My Time Of Dying, Kashmir, & Black Mountain Side with Led Zepplin with this Dano...

Danelectro’s are of particular interest to me...my stepfather was Nathan Daniel, founder of Danelectro...

Thanks for sharing Brute. Those guitars never knew what they had coming their way when they were made. That would be so cool to go see that exhibit.

Eric Clapton’s Fender Stratocaster “Blackie”...Clapton bought six mid-fifties strats in Nashville in 1970; he gave three away to his buddies (George Harrison, Stevie Winwood & Pete Townshend) and then took the best parts from the remaining three and had this guitar built. It was his main guitar for the next 25 years, then retired it due to some neck twisting issues (not uncommon with old strats due to the truss rod).

In 2004, Blackie was sold at auction for $850,000 with the proceeds going to his Crossroads rehab joint he founded...

1958 Gibson Explorer...less than 50 were manufactured between 1958 and 1963 due to the fact that they never were popular with guitarists, and production ceased. Then in the mid 70’s, they gained favor with certain guitarists and they began to reissue the Explorer...but those original first run Explorers are worth a fortune now...

The white guitar in the middle is one of Leo Fender’s first prototype guitars (1949), the precursor to the Esquire & Broadcaster...a single coil pickup under the bridge cover...since Gretsch had a model called the Broadkaster, Leo changed the name to Telecaster...and the rest is history; the working man’s guitar, and a personal favorite of mine

Bo Derek know Diddley...Bo Jackson knows Diddley...but no one knows Diddley better that Bo Diddley. Known for his rectangular shaped guitars, Bo Diddley collaborated with Gretsch in 1960 to make the Twang Machine for him...

This guitar, a 1954 Gibson SJ (Southern Jumbo), belonged to Don Everly...of the Everly Brothers. He often played this in open tuning, which was a big influence on Keith Richards (aka The Man Who Should Have Been Dead A Long Time Ago)
