Stiff clutch pedal?

I took an 07 Rubi for a test drive the other day and found the clutch pedal to be really stiff. I had a 6speed in my old Sahara, and I don't remember it being anywhere near that stiff.

what could cause a really stiff clutch pedal on an 07 JK with the 6 speed? bad slave cylinder? pressure plate? what gives?

Slave is probably going out. Pretty common problem. In over 100,000 miles, I never had a problem with the factory clutch but went through 3 slaves and 1 throwout bearing. Fortunately, the slave is relatively cheap and easy to replace.
