That would be awesome. If you do pull the trigger on that show us how it works/sounds I have a buddy that would like to do the same. Also what year is yours again?

Edit:nevermind I see now haha

Should have this stuff ordered within the next few weeks. Going with the Pioneer AVIC-8200, 2 pairs of JL C5 components, 8" W3, and 5 channel JL XD700.

I had my local audio shop make fiberglass boxes that fit under each of the front seats. I have since switched the subs to JL audio for a little better sound. I have a Rockford amp behind the glove box. The seats still retain all functions and there is enough space in the box for the sub to function properly, and being made of fiberglass if I get water on the floor I will not have any issues with them being wet. As long as it doesn't get deep enough to Cher the speaker.

If you want a sub that's easily removable, I'd recommend looking at the Kicker VSS SubStage SWRA411. It's already powered and installs by hooking into the child safety seat hoops behind the passenger seat. To remove just fold the seats down, disconnect the wire connection and lift it out.

Seeing as he has a 4 door, the seat will not flip up. I can say tho from running an arb twin in my old 2 door, you could still put a sub there depending on how you mount the bracket for the sub. Like if you make it work with the base rails, it wont lift up with the seat and you will be fine, just be carefull.

Thanks for the idea! I know the subs and enclosures being sold online say it won't fit with my seats. Not sure why though!

That's pretty sweet looking. How do you secure it to your jeep?

I used half of Velcro strips. They clung to the stock carpet on the rear fender wells like a champ.

On a side note: I have two of these available. Precut for 10" subs, prewired and stuffed with hollowfil (just add your 10" sub) for $60 each + shipping. If anyone is interested.

I'm not 100% on this idea, but has anyone used a 2014 or earlier subwoofer box in a 2015 or newer JK? If memory serves me right in 2015 they switched to a cargo floor mount subwoofer. So, I wonder if an earlier subwoofer would work mounted on the passenger side or if the wiring is different.

I think it would work since the wiring is already there, but I dunno how easy it will be. I know on my 15 which did not come with a sub, the wiring is there like I said, but does not have power.

I think people go the other way: take out a side mounted sub for no sub at all and replace with 2015 or newer side panel. So, in theory you could do what you're talking about.

So, when you say there is no power, you mean like the power wire isn't there or it's just not connected?

So how did the install go? Does the stock head unit have a sub output?

You need a line output converter. It takes the signal from one of your factory speaker wires and filters all but the low end. I used one with a stock head unit/subwoofer combo and it actually wasn't that bad.

Does anyone know if the dealer will give you a copy of the wiring diagram for the stereo system? Or maybe someone has a copy of it laying around for a 2015 2-door?

I pulled thus diagram from All Data. I have a 2014 JKUR, so I'm not sure if the harness or wire colors will be the same, but hopefully it is. There is 3 diagrams for the base system and 4 diagrams for the premium. I hope this helps you out.
