The Adventures of Fiona - '08 JK Rubicon 2-Door

Looks like a great project.

I hope to be able to go that way soon.

Cool. Good luck with the install.
Thanks. Hopefully it goes smoothly and works the first time. Already found that Harbor Freight stops at 32mm sockets and I need a 34mm. 🙄

You'll love being able to steer locked on the rocks!! Oh Yeah
Looking forward to it! 👍

What box are you using?

It's a stock Delphi box ported by West Texas Offroad. I bought the box and cylinder from a guy who was taking his Jeep back to stock to sell since he bought a 4-door. I had an AutoZone rebuild hanging around my garage for a year that I gave to him.

Turns out my box is the original Delphi as well, so I'll probably send it over to WTO and have them rebuild and port it so I have a spare.

Unfortunately, I had some obligations that couldn't be put off so I didn't have as much time as I had hoped to work on her this weekend.

I was able to get the new steering box installed and the PSC bracket mounted on the axle, so all that's left is getting the cylinder mounted, figure out where to mount the clamp on the tie rod, then bleed the system.

When I was tearing things down, I found that the extra slop I was feeling was from the drag link dropping out of the pitman arm. 😳 Thank God the Currie steering links came with castle nuts otherwise that fucker would've been on the floor on the highway at 80mph! Thinking back, I remember that was the one nut that I never got around to torquing after the install because of the location it was in at the time prevented me from getting the torque wrench on it. I meant to go back and do it and forgot all about it. 🤪

Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow after work to finish up the install. I'm anxious to get her back on the road.

Fucking Murphy. 😎

So I got the ram mocked up. The PSC bracket assumes you have a stock Jeep and doesn't play well with the 1.5" Currie tie rod. The nut that holds the cylinder rides on the tie rod. I ended up grinding an angle into the nut to clear it. 🤪

Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to jack her up a little and run through the range of steering to set the final location of the tie rod clamp.

Where the ram is currently sitting, it looks like it will be real tight on the diff cover when it is turned full left.

Good luck. I'm sure it will be great when you get it done

Can you post a pic of the steering box so I can tell what the Delphi looks like?
