Finally finished up the pressure vessel Ive been working on. Started out with some 3/4” plate and some pipe, ended up with this big bastard! It weighs in at almost 8k lbs.

I’m by no means great at welding, but I do it often at work. Welded in a new leaf hanger on a trailer yesterday.

It’s all a high grade carbon. It’s part of a system to refine oil that is headed to Canada. It’s heavy duty. Just the blind flange on front with the handles on it weighs 790lbs.

I like the way the hinge works, with the adjustment to line it up for the sag. Much easier to bolt it up I'm sure.

That is cool.
We will hydro it to 468psi. All butt welds were x-ray along with the seam weld. The customer had an outside inspector come in many times during the process to sign of on it.

That what I thought. The last half of 2019 I spent building a coil that is going to be hydro tested at 14,800psi. And it didn’t have anywhere near the reinforcement or wall thicknesses as the tank I just finished. So I asked one of our engineers why the overkill on the tank and his reply was that by pipe standards 458psi is low pressure but for a tank with that much surface area it’s a lot. Idk, I just build the stuff[emoji106]

I went in and knocked out a few welds this morning. This is a pulsed mig pipe weld. It’s not as pretty as a tig weld but damn is it fast!
